The Girl Raised by the Death God is dropped forever

Just realized it's been a year since volume 4 was posted on this site.
I explained a number of times that the Chinese raws aren't available, and I can't translate later volumes. But that message might not have gotten through to everyone. Hence, it make sense to drop it officially and forever. This will free up this series from this site, and someone else might pick it up. And to assuage any fear of me coming back to the series, dropping it forever is a necessary move.

Best Regards

Author of Berserk, Kentaro Miura, has Passed Away

He was 54 years old, and a real badass. The Berserk manga showed the feelings of rage and anger exceptionally well. On this day, we are all Guts.

For people wondering when the Berserk hiatus will end, you have your answer.

Protagonist misunderstood for being ultra competent

Greetings and Happy Holidays, Light Novel Connoisseurs.

When you read the title of this post, the first light novel that comes to mind is probably this;

The MC is doing his own shit, and everyone think he is a genius, and this novel embodies it perfectly. This story genre will always require extreme mental gymnastics by the side characters to make sense of the MC's bizarre behavior, and that is where the comedy lies.

Susthewood refuse to concede translation! Accuses opponent of translation fraud

Okay, so let's ignore the click bait title and get right into the real agenda. I was planning to take up a new series, D-Genesis, but that series was already being translated by another group. They started earlier and was further ahead, so I decided to abort my translation instead.

Or... I can refuse to concede, bring it all the way to court, gather baseless accusations and try to invalidate their number of released translations and release date by massing a mob to chant "STOP THE COUNT!" Well, that's retarded, so I will just concede then.

So, how will this affect you?

There will be no translation for one week after I complete Death volume 4 as I rush to translate Alderamin Vol 10.

Log Horizon, anime season 3 to air in Oct 2020

Titled "The collapse of the Round Table", the third season of Log Horizon will air after a gap of 5 years. It will probably feature the cast breaking furniture or something, I don't know.

It will be produced by Studio Deen which did season 2.

The winner of the "This Light Novel is Amazing!" award that no one cares about

"This Light Novel is Amazing!", better known as "Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi!" is an award by a Japanese magazines that list the top ten Light Novels of the year. It uses internet polls and votes from collaborators of the industry to determine the results. If you browse through the list, you will find many works licensed by English publishers, while the less popular ones are at least fan translated. Here's the wiki link if you want to browse through the list.

Alderamin of the Sky got 2nd place in the 2014 awards, and was adapted into an anime

However, it doesn't mean there aren't any flukes either. The best example would be the 2019 winner, Sabikui Bisco, that just fell completely off the landscape. That's one winner no one cared about, since it's set in a 'mad max' type apocalyptic future instead of a fantasy world with game mechanics, not an isekai, and don't have waifus for readers to fawn over.

But that's not the focus of this post today. Allow me to introduce you to the winner of the 2020 awards, Nanatsu no Maken ga Shihai Suru (七つの魔剣が支配する).

Winner of the 2020 "Sugoi" award

Roughly translated into "Domination of the Seven Magic Swords", it's set in a fantasy world, with lots of waifus, and is basically a magic school battle novel. Unlike the author that won the 2019 award, this author is a veteran with a proven track record of a light novel series that spanned 14 volumes, which was adapted into a manga and anime.

It's not an isekai, but it appears to hit all the marks that will make it a popular series. So, why is no one taking notice? Well, the author had a track record of killing off fan favorite characters. That's right, he is also the author of Alderamin, Uno Bokuto.

Pic not related.

Killing off characters happens all the time in Games of Thrones, but that only works because the story is told from the view of many factions, which spreads the importance for any one character. It's also fine to build up one character and kill him/her off in one volume, so readers can empathize with them. But doing so over 7 volumes is just devastating.

Right now, everyone is just watching from afar, waiting to see if the author kills off anyone important again. An anime adaptation will probably happen if he manages to do so. If not, no one will want to touch it with a ten foot pole.

Altina is probably axed, and here's why

First of all, Happy New Year, and sorry for the click baity title. Next, I don't have definite proof that Altina has been axed, just conjunctures. Yukiya Murasak might release the Altina V15 tomorrow and prove me wrong, so this post is just about my thought process on this matter.

Upcoming Plans for the rest of 2019

Hello everyone, thanks for still sticking around.
As you might have noticed, I have been translating interesting but unknown stories. Their premises are unique and the first volume is good. However, the subsequent volumes are just kind of dragging the series out, so they will remain one volume teasers on my site.

So far, I have done;

1) There Is No Way a Support Type Character Will Have a Girlfriend
2) Who is the Strongest Appraiser? ~ Eating Your Full in a Different World

Next week's one volume project will be;

3) Ascendance of a Scummy Hero

Then starting on 23 Nov 2019, I will do three volumes of
4) The Girl Raised by the Death God Holds the Sword of Darkness in Her Arms

... Unless they get licensed. As always early access unedited chapters are available through patron

Princess Connect Re:Dive gets an anime

Remember the mobile game I mentioned in a recent post?
That game just got an anime.

I don't even play that game, but I feel an unjustified sense of pride because I mentioned this game by chance before the anime announcement.

There's no English version for some reason, but that might change in 2020, if the anime don't bomb.

I know nothing about this game, but I declare it the mascot waifu mobile game for this site.

Future updates and Taipei trip

First off Happy Chinese New Year! First off, hers's what is going to happen in the coming months. The last part of Food V13 will be posted tonight, concluding that project. At the same time, I will post part 1 of Altina V14 tonight. That's right, double post tonight.

Starting next Saturday, the early unedited translation of Alderamin V5 will be uploaded to my Patreon, and will be posted here after Altina V14 is done.

With that out of the way, let me tell you about my trip to Taipei last week.

First, anime mobile games are big over there. This big ass advertisement on a building in Ximending is testament to that. If you ever feel guilty about buying gacha for your anime waifu, you can take comfort in knowing that you are not alone, and this is a multi billion industry. By the way, the game in question here is Princess Connect! Re: Dive.

Merry Christmas and Cooking with Wild Game got licensed

It's a couple of days early, but I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas!
Here's a random anime girl in a Christmas hat to brighten your day!

Now that I'm done with the season's greeting, onto the Cooking with Wild Game licensing. Here's the announcement: https://twitter.com/jnovelclub/status/1076747640732299265

As I have said many times before, a novel I'm translating getting licensed is always a good thing. No more memes, professional translations, the author getting their fair cut of the profit and better publicity are all great things.

What's gonna happen to the blog:

1) I will be removing Volume 1 to 10 by 26 December 11pm (GMT +8), but it might be earlier if things don't go well

2) Notice that translation for Cooking will end soon, and a Link to J-Novel's translation will be put up in the main page.
https://j-novel.club/v/cooking-with-wild-game-volume-1

3) I will try to continue until the end of volume 13.

4) If I do manage to post until the end of volume 13, I will remove all Cooking translations one week later.

What's gonna happen to patreon:

1) I will be removing Volume 1 to 10 immediately

2) Notice that translation for Cooking will end soon will be put up there

3) I will try to continue until the end of volume 13.

4) Patreon goes by monthly subscription, so by the end of January 2019, all Cooking contents will be removed, and no new Cooking content will be posted.

Next Project

Since no one picked up Altina V14, and it is easier to translate, will post that when I'm done with Cooking. After that will be Alderamin V5. How come no one is licensing these two series?

Food will stop temporary after V8, Alderamin will resume with V4

This might sound strange, but I have to take a break from Cooking with Wild Game after volume 8. It is gaining popularity for unknown reasons, and there are murmurs saying it might get licensed, so I need to lie low for a while.

https://forums.j-novel.club/topic/1082/cooking-with-wild-game

So things will continue as usual until Volume 8 is done. Cooking will then stop temporarily.

I will then work on Volume 4 of another light novel, Alderamin.

Altina is caught up again, and will be dropped from this site

Dropping a translation project that is all caught up might sound retarded, but I'm going to do it anyway. Sort of like giving a very long notice period before quitting a job, since this volume was released just a little over 2 months ago. The next one will probably be published next year, as the author is busy with his other novel is getting an anime.

pic unrelated; volume 4 of Altina manga

This is great news for readers because:
1) If there is a new translator, the release might be faster.
2) The translation might be better.
3) Less memes and retards in translation.
4) The new translator might be a saint.
5) The new translator might be a girl.
6) The new translator might be a trap.

So we should all rejoice that this series has been dropped!
