Protagonist misunderstood for being ultra competent

Greetings and Happy Holidays, Light Novel Connoisseurs.

When you read the title of this post, the first light novel that comes to mind is probably this;

The MC is doing his own shit, and everyone think he is a genius, and this novel embodies it perfectly. This story genre will always require extreme mental gymnastics by the side characters to make sense of the MC's bizarre behavior, and that is where the comedy lies.
The real life version of this will be QAnon or USA politics, which is good for laughs, but don't get drawn into believing the mental gymnastics.

Such stories are very relatable since the MC is your average person just like us, making it believable in the sense of the world. It also subvert the tired trope of the MC being super humble and low key, which is getting stale.

Here's two example;

These MC do have some level of competence, granted to them by having knowledge from another world (Isekai), being a super powered lich in a game world, or having knowledge of the future. A big part of the comedy stems from the MC pretending to be super competent in order to overcome any ordeals.

There are exceptions to such stories too, where the MC is just that dense and unaware, and everything just clicks because of dumb luck. Here's a couple of examples;

Orc Hero Story

Now, I heard that you guys like little girls, so let's talk about that. For this particular girl, she is actually as competent as others saw her. A part of the comedy is she trying to get a safer posting, but got mistaken for being a blood thirsty battle maniac, and kept getting sent to the dangerous frontlines. But that part gradually faded away. The story is now about war and politics, with that girl who learned about it from her previous life is now playing an earnest role to survive.

Face it, you got master baited by the little girl, who used to be an adult man, and is now reading alternate world war history

What are some other misunderstood protagonist that you know of?
Let me know in the comments.

Merry Christmas!
