Volume 9 Afterword



Thanks to everybody who bought Volume 9. For some reason, it became another big and heavy volume.


When I first started writing this, I asked the editor “Since there’s not much to write for this volume, I should be able to wrap it up in around 200 pages, right?”. But when I received the printed volume, I wondered “Why is it so thick?”
It is a mystery.
It’s really strange. Where did the extra 200 pages come from?
Still, I want to try finishing a volume that’s around 300 pages long, and not 300 pages each for just Part 1 and Part 2.
Either way, I don’t know what happened, but the developments in the next volume will be completely different from the web novel, which makes me kind of nervous. Still, I hope everyone will enjoy it. I’m going to say up front that Volume 10 will be 300 pages long.
Speaking of which, last week, the “Overlord” manga drawn by Miyama Fugin-sensei went on sale. This week, Volume 9 of the light novel came out, and next week will be the start of the Overlord animation broadcast. These 3 weeks will be full of Overlord.
We produced something great thanks to the help of everyone working on it. (Especially So-bin sama… He has so much work to do, it makes me tear up everytime I think about it. It’s like… well, sometimes I feel like I’m giving myself a hard time). I hope you all can enjoy the manga, the novel and the anime.
And now for, the usual acknowledgements.
Thank you very much to So-bin-sama, for his amazing illustrations and working on the animation and manga with all his soul.
The designer, Chord Design Studio not only worked on the light novel, but on the Overlord animation’s logo as well. The anime logo is cool and amazing. Murata-sama, who worked hard for drawing out the map. Ohaku-sama and Itou-sama edit and performed detailed checks, so thank you as well. I’m gratefulto  everybody who worked hard to help me make this thick volume, but to F-da-sama who doesn’t think Overlord is very thick compared to other books he’s in charge of, thank you as well. And to Hani who, as a father, said “children are amazing” at the scene with Marquis Raeven, thank you very much, as always.
Although I can’t fit everyone in here, I thank everyone who took part in not just the novel, but in manga and Overlord animation as well!
And of course, my greatest thanks goes to those readers who have followed all of the volumes.

    Erm when they meant Overlord ANime has strted .Does that mean season 2 has started to release?Coz s1 was released long tym ago. I realy want to see the season 2 anime of overlord. Where can i find news regarding their release dates ??

      Uhmm perhaps this volume 9 was released when S1 was still airing. And don't get your hopes up it's Madhouse we're talking about so there's probably no season 2.

      Dude..wasnt deathnote completed? Like all it's content specifically? I think there are other contents about "L" i think its called Re-Birthday or something but the anime finished itself and light died in the end...so season 2 is physically impossible unless they write a new story about it

    Well, I guess this mark the end of Overlord Novel(Fan Translation Version). Thanks everyone for the mass releases today that conclude everything and thanks everyone that help developing this project till the bitter end.       If it's alright with you (and everyone else here), I'm in the middle of creating PDFs for Vol 2 - 9 (Vol 1 was already made into PDF form by Aquarilas [check the main page comments for their link]).

      That said, it's going to take some time to turn all of the volumes into PDFs. I'll respond back to this comment with a link (and probably post a link to the main page) once I'm done.

      Yen press have licensed overlord so sky will stop translating it and remove it from their site before volume one hit the shelves.

      So as far as superbly translated overlord goes it's over.

      Yen press is nice and all but it will probably take 5 years for them to get to volume 10.

    Thanks for everything, you guys! Haven't been an Overlord fan for long, but ever since the Overlord anime, I've been craving for more of it's awesome story. What you guys did was to satisfy my cravings, and give me great entertainment every weekend. You cemented my fandom of not only the Overlord story, but in general, light novels as a whole. I shall continue to look for more great stories to enjoy as much as I did with Overlord. Now it is my wish is to learn how to read, and speak fluent Japanese, so I can continue reading up-to-date Overlord by ordering online...somehow...     It has been 11 months since discovering this light novel. And what it blast it's been. I'm so in love with the series that imported all 9 volumes, just so I can support Maruyama--sensei and so-bin. And I'll definitely be buying them again when they're out here, in the US.     A long rant....

    The first time I read it, it was when volume 2 was being translated. I remember that I had read from the google docs back then. Later, I change and began to read in this wonderful blog that had hosted Log horizon (I love it too much!).
    So for this long time that you spent translating, editing, proofreading and supporting leeches, I'll thank you for all of it.

    As it was difficult for me to buy LN in physical and non-physical format (I spent an equivalent of 140 breads just to buy a physical copy of Pandora Hearts), I'm grateful to you for sharing it and letting me read this wonderful story.

    Last weeks releases were on my birthday, so this last volume has felt like a farewell gift from this series. I hope that someday we will continue to experience the greatness of this series.

    It was an awesome travel. Somewhere along the way, I caught a chronical and terminal eye disease, but thankfully I was able to read all of Overlord before going fully blind thanks to you guys.

    Every single one of them was killed on the spot.

    I'm feeling so bitter sweet about this. We've caught up to the novels in Japan, which is awesome, but now there won't be any more translations of it until Yen Press finally decides to translate and publish it all in English. Which they might even never do. Sometimes series get dropped before being fully translated into English. :(
    Anyway, it was a fun ride. Thanks a ton to the whole team who worked on Overlord. It was the main series that I read on this site and one of the series I most looked forward to getting updates for. I'll have to find something new now. Haha
    Ok... I'm off to cry myself to sleep now.

    P.S. hope the volumes 1-9 sell well enough that they translate volume 10+, cause they might just translate a few see people aren't buying then drop it but also not allow people to translate it. Like how mangagamer says they'll trans something then leaves it for years then forever. :(.

    Parting is such sweet sorrow, especially from a place as amazing as this one. These translations were not only readable, but beyond professional....and in a timely manner. Unfortunate as it is, Yen Press will not be nearly as good, just from the fact their Vol. 1 will be released in May 2016...if my predictions are correct, i do not expect to see Vol 10 from them for another 10 years......it has been good, and i will see you all in another 10 years for the latest volume!
